Kathleen Edwards
Went to go see her last night with my brother, who bought us both tickets. The opening act, some guy named Justin Rutledge, was terrible. He had a really good voice and was good on guitar, but his songs all sounded the same and as soon as he said his last album was about his relationship to the church, I needed another drink just to get through his last song. But all was redeemed when Kathleen Edwards hit the stage. She kicked some serious ass. One of my favorite songs, Run, ended with her showing her guitar who’s boss. Amazing stuff. Seeing her live also put some of the songs into perspective as I could see the type of emotion she was putting into them.
The best part was meeting her after the show and having her sign a couple of her limited edition, handmade radio tube fridge magnets that my brother bought. She was making more them on the bus on the way to Vancouver yesterday.
Here’s the video for the latest single, which she sang last night.
